CLOSE YOUR EYES & THINK OF ENGLAND

CLOSE YOUR EYES AND THINK OF ENGLAND
First installed in 2003. Dimension variable.

Close Your Eyes and Think of England is made entirely of ‘found’ Support Our Troops auto magnets common in post-9/11 United States.

During the subsequent war in Iraq that began in 2003, a series of human rights violations against detainees in the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq were exposed through leaked photography. They were snapshots made by soldiers as they torture Iraqi prisoners and shared as trophy shots. Some of the most circulated and seen images included soldier Lynndie England as she posed with the detainees. Close Your Eyes and Think of England is a rendition of one of these images.
